Topic: Chattooga Fishing, Top to Bottom in September
Bio: Having been around a long while, Jeff Durniak (aka Dredger) is no stranger to the north Georgia angling community. Jeff Durniak spent his professional career with GADNR, first as its trout biologist for a decade and then as the north Georgia region fisheries supervisor for another 24 years. In that role he supervised all state fisheries programs (and a highly motivated staff) from Atlanta north, including trout, bass, walleye, stripers, and kids fishing events, and some not-so-fun programs like fish kill assessments after pollution incidents. He was named TU-National ‘s Conservation Professional of the Year in 2006.
More importantly, Dredger has flung a fly rod for more than 50 years. He’s a charter Rabunite and just stepped down at the end of his term as chapter president. Now, as a part-timer for Unicoi Outfitters (UO), he posts daily Instagram and Facebook intel and occasionally staffs UO’s Helen fly shop. His Friday fishing reports at blog.angler.management can’t be beat for timely regional intel. He blends fisheries science with angler expectations to help us enjoy our sport and conserve the aquatic resources that support it.
